LYRICS:
BUEN CAMINO. Memories of Spain
Come pilgrims, lay down your weary load
Wash the dust from your feet, take shelter from the road
Take refreshment from this fountain
Clear running to slake your thirst
Go ‘til your feet, your feet don’t touch the ground
O Cebreiro, thatched homes of rugged stone
Mountain pass, church tower all alone
Feet have trod this ancient highway
Broad and narrow, winding byways
Go ‘til your shadow is no longer found.
High plains wheat fields give way to chaparral
Oak woods and heather, mixed with groves of pine
Chestnut and rowan clothe the hillsides
Eucalyptus scents the air
Go ‘til your feet, your feet don’t make a sound
No matter what your country, no matter what your tongue
You are all welcome here to lift our song
Organ and incense lifting our spirits, now we know
We are home at last
WE DANCE IN CIRCLES LAUGHING FREE: Lyrics by Jeremy (JD) Devros
There’s a grove at the edge of town, where the darkness meets the road
Where the children run and play, where their parents never go
There was a fire in my heart, in that secret silken spot
Where my dreams all came alive, and gave it everything they’ve got
Here the flags are all the same, and here the people always smile
From there, the home from where they came, here they’ll rest but for awhile
We dance in circles laughing free, the river here is fresh and clean
We swim, we sigh, in the sun we dry, the sky is blue, the orchard green
And as we reach out to our friends, as our fingertips alight
As our eyes are locked in love, as we whisper our goodnights
We dance in circles laughing free (repeat)
BROKE MY SILENCE WITH THIS SONG. A turning point
Broke my silence with this song, don’t know why it took so damn long
Twenty years it had to be, don’t know what happened to me
Could be this worldwide strife, could be that I just got a life
Could be that I’ve had a few, could be my coming to you
Come on in, the water’s fine, wade on in, and all in time
Gonna glow, gonna let it shine, the tide is rising, yours and mine
And now my weariness is past, I’m in the clear sunlight at last
My harbor lights come into view, now that I’m coming to you
Fishing in deep waters from the start
I set my course straight from the heart
A glance from your eyes, a little wind to fill my sails
Moving with emotion, feeling the pull of fate
ANY DAY IS NEW
Any day is new, now I’m in love with you
When we’re apart, there’ll be no broken hearts
Any day is new, any day is new
So time moves swiftly on, just like a fading song
Yet all is gathered now, nothing’s wasted now
We’ve found the rusted key, any day is new
The many seasons that have gone before us
The many chapters that have passed
Remind us of the task before us
And the ripeness that is ours
At last the good life will appear
Burst forth from the gloom and drear
Sunlight fading at the end of day
Reveals that joy is here to stay
Any day is new, any day is new
INDIGO AND SILVER. Two creeks in the Siskiyou Mountains of SW Oregon. In 1987, the Silver Fire consumed much of this area, only to recover before the Biscuit Fire, extending over a half million acres, returned in 2002. The cycle of burn and recovery continues. Meanwhile, conservationists strive to protect the area from further disturbance. “Where the road ends, there we make our stand”.
Indigo and Silver, your colors fill my life
Dry red earth and deep green canyon
Green river flowing far beneath
On this mountain vision quests have found their mark
Mystic arrows flying in the dark
Sacrament in showers, life quickening within
Steep mossy pathway, Silver Prairie opening
In our generation in this deserted place
We hold a mirror where we see our face
After the fires swept over, burning ridge to ridge
Green will spring again, building us a bridge
Ancient spirits hide on every hand
Where the road ends, there we make our stand
ROSALIE (GRAND PIANO IN A DARKENED ROOM). A resonant memory
Grand piano in a darkened room, burning sage its thick perfume
Lithe muscled silence, breath soft in the night
Trickling water heard in the early light
Though it never could work out, it was just meant to be
Things happen for a reason, or so she said to me
Rosalie….
Woodpecker drumming on an ancient tree
Birds sending messages to you and me
Questing spirit to a distant space
Memory is fading now, but I still see your face
Though it never could work out, it was just meant to be
Things happen for a reason, or so she said to me
Rosalie…..
The wheel is spinning, we don’t know where it lands
In these matters, things are out of our hands
Now I’m watching, it won’t be very long
All I can capture will be in this song
SAND AND SEA (ISABELA INTERLUDE). Memories of the Galápagos Islands
Sand and sea, that’s where I long to be
And as the tides flow, I know
Deeper than I did before, and then maybe I find, peace of mind
In your eyes, I see a big surprise
And as the tides flow, we know
Love we have to share, and what is more we see it grow, high and low
Lava bees, mangrove and cactus trees
And when the cloud blows, who knows
When the sun will burn on through, and then it burns us too, me and you
Words are mine, I know, they hardly rhyme
But as the chords flow, they go
Better than they did before and suddenly I find, words are mine
THE BARD ON BLEECKER STREET. London, April 1616, and Will Shakespeare headed back to his lodgings after a night carousing with Ben Jonson and company to celebrate his 52nd birthday. Stumbling into a ditch, at first he passed out. Then he awoke, is this some kind of joke? Listen on…….
My creditors behind me now, I shift the scene
What city this? What figment of a poet’s dream?
What press of strange conveyances? It fogs my brain
This brave new world hath creatures of another name.
The Bard is out on Bleecker Street, so there he’ll ply his craft
He’ll strut and speak in antic tongue and make the winos laugh
Who is this guy (the people cry), can he be for real?
His name should be in Broadway lights, he’s got mass appeal.
Who are these men from Afric shore, arrayed in gaudy robes?
The sot-weed smoke wreaths them about, and pours from ev’ry nose
In taverns brazen serpents blare to thrum of mutant lute
Can music be the food of lust, of ev’ry vice the root?
The alchemist assured me to my very face
His potion would transmute this world and change all time and place
My body lay within a ditch, dead drunk to human eye
What wondrous birthday gift is this, that makes me thus to die?
TALK DIRTY TO ME. Say no more….
I been grinding at the office, gotta keep it alive
I’ll tell you something that I just can’t hide
I won’t be hazy, it makes me crazy when you…..
Talk dirty to me, talk dirty to me
I get a notion to go on a roam
There’s always one thing that’s sure to keep me home
It’s so revealing, there’s no concealing, when you…..
Talk dirty to me
So many times my friends complain to me,
Relationships ain’t what they used to be
I tell them ‘bout my own philosophy
It’s elementary psychology
And when my corpuscles are needing a charge
Your tender words will make horizons enlarge
I’ll make it plain, it’s so insane, when you…..
Talk dirty to me
And when you’re gone and I’m feeling alone
One hand is on the nearest telephone
Gotta believe it, you can relieve it when you….
Talk dirty to me
(Voice over…)
